Direct vs. Softened Communication

Overview

Employees working with international colleagues are increasingly required to speak English, the global language. Communication requires more than just knowledge of vocabulary and grammar: it also requires an understanding of the nuances of corporate cultures. To improve employees’ cultural knowledge, an embedded interaction on direct and softened phrases was developed.

Solution

A simple drag-and-drop game was developed in Articulate Storyline, then embedded into a course built in Articulate Rise. Gamification was achieved through creating the “direct” and “softened” categories respectively, with real-time feedback included for both correct and incorrect answers.

Result

Employees were able to apply what they’ve learned directly in their workplaces, enhancing their professional communication.
